Dr. Kelly Miller is our founder and co-director.  Kelly, her husband and four children have lived in Durango for over 23 years.  Kelly and her close family joined the Courage Classic in 2007 as a way to give back to Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO). This turned in to the establishment of the Durango Derailers Patient Assistance Fund in 2012, which has since turned in to a team of bike riders, dancers, community businesses and donors working together who have raised over $1 Million in aggregate support for the mission.  Kelly has worn all the hats - mom of a child receiving life-saving heart surgery and continued care at CHCO, pediatrician at Pediatric Partners of the SW, bike rider in the Courage Classic and the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, a business sponsor, a donor and even a dancer in the Dancing with the Durango Stars event.  Her passion, vision and leadership have propelled us forward!
Laura Shelton is our co-director.  She is an FLC Alumni, Senior Vice President and employee-owner of Alpine Bank, and co-owner of S&S Lock Service.  Laura has been a community member for 30 years; she and her husband have 3 children, including their son Chase who was born 8 weeks prematurely.  All three of their children have been cared for by Children's Hospital Colorado.  Laura first joined the Durango Derailers in 2012, rode in the Courage Classic for the first time in 2013, and took over as team captain and co-director in 2016.   Laura has a passion for helping others in need, and is quick to respond in going above and beyond when she sees a need arise.  Laura was vital in expanding our mission and our ability to serve more local families in many different clinics and hospitals, ensuring all our community children in need of specialty care have access regardless of the destination.  Laura's leadership, innovation, organization and community partnership are invaluable to our growth!
